Our Goal as a company is to rise to the top and be known as a leader. Well, with this project, we have risen to the top. With our 23' deep retractable sunroom on the 15th rooftop floor of Hotel Gansevoort, we lead the pack. It's very difficult to appease the New York City market if you are not prepared to offer the highest grade of quality components, which are critical for any engineering requirements of any structure. But to be timely, with a start and completion date for any project, is by far the most exasperating process of any difficult install. 15 stories in the air definitely adds a level of experience and responsibility that most companies aren't equipped to accept. With our 23 years in the industry, this project is one of many high profile enclosures that have entered our portfolio and it certainly won't be our last.

The streets of New York City aren't conductive to parking and unloading during working hours, and having a 50-ton crane planted on the streets for 6 hours definitely didn't make the crane operator any friends. But the project needed to continue, so craning he did.
A large amount of parts were craned to the roof of this ultra-modern hotel and set beside the in ground pool which oversees the Hudson River, 15 stories in the air.
As the parts are being craned up, another crew is assembling the enclosure. The sections are 15' high, and with 5' wide bays each weighing more than 1800 lbs., the equipment that was used to assist the crews was quite industrial.
More and more parts arrive every hour. Remember, it's a long way up on a cold day in January.
... and more parts keep coming.
... and more....
Robert Scarpa, one of our lead people, who is also the owner of the Long Island region, has been brought on to assist our corporate staff in this project. He is with several other employees of both companies, his and ours.
Here you can see the perspective of the building and the crane. Whether it's on the ground floor or 15 stories high, Roll-A-Cover is prepared.
Here you can see the 170' crane in action and the view to New Jersey.
As the install process continues, this corner of the site has many obstacles which definitely restrict our mobility. Being on the rooftop, our options are limited.
The weather is cold and windy, but the team of installers are prepared to complete this project within the scheduled allotted time. With this roof panel sitting on deck and ready to be hoisted in the air, the next step is to reconnect the eave and then the front wall.
This part is being lifted up by a mechanical hoist and set into our patented Roll-A-Track head piece.
The eave and front wall are then assembled in place and torque-wrenched together for added rigidity.
As the sections are being connected into the 6061 3/4" aluminum gussets and the alignment process comes to fruition, the systems stability force becomes reality.
As you can see, this is not an ordinary enclosure. We have inserted a steel plate that is 3/4" thick by 4" high within the rafter system for added stability. Why? Because of the tremendous amount of shadow load the system has acquired based upon the design of the hotel with the enclosure attached. It's one super engineering design.
As the process continues, more bays are put into place.
An inside view with the enclosure closed makes for one incredible picture. A vaulted ceiling that hovers over a view that is worth millions puts this Roll-A-Cover enclosure in a world of its own.

Now it's time to entertain and Hotel Gansevoort has already scheduled this area for many up-scale gatherings. This enclosure's flexibility of opening and then closing when the weather turns for the worst, allows this space to become another revenue channel for their rooftop conference areas.
